Fat client | Thin client | Web client

A Fat Client means that the EnterpriseOne software is installed directly on your PC and the database that it uses is on some Database Server. Whatever code changes you do on your Fat Client will NOT impact on any way to other Users since the entire JD Edwards Software is on your personal machine and not shared.

A Thin Client means that EnterpriseOne is installed on a terminal server and only the terminal server software has been installed on your PC. The EnterpriseOne client is over two gigabytes in size, so you can see why terminal servers are such a popular configuration. This is similar to Fat Client except that you would need Network Access to connect to EnterpriseOne System since it’s not on your personal machines but on another Server.
(NOTE: Most often a Thin Client it’s not a shared system used by multiple developers, instead each Developer is assigned his/her own Thin-client)

The Web Client, also known as the JAS (Java Application Server) client, is installed on a Web-sphere application server. The only software that needs to be installed on the user’s PC is a browser.
